Lyrics

She wakes before dawn, in a house on the land
That her grandparents farmed, worked with their own hands
Where she dreamed as a girl that someday she would see
That old farm transformed to a sanctuary
Where the cows and the goats and the sheep all could graze
And live free from harm
Through the long Wildwood days

Wildwood days, listen to the rooster crow
Trying to wake a sleeping world, tell 'em something they don't know
That deep within each human heart, deep down at the core
There shines a light of mercy that can guide our way once more

You can see when you look, in their eyes open wide
That they see you as well, that there's someone inside
Though they’ve suffered and grieved for the families they’ve lost
They are open to love, willing to trust
Yes, in what matters most, they are so much like us
For they think and they feel and yearn for happiness

Each one has a story, each one has a name
Rescued from the gates of hell, when an angel finally came
From a land where love is everywhere, a place they now can stay
In the pastures, barns, and forests, each glorious Wildwood Day

And the girl with the dream, now decades ago
Still follows her heart cause she never let go
Of that prayer to create for her friends in the fields
A peaceable kingdom, where all wounds can heal
May humanity waken and heed the heart's call
For a world filled with kindness and justice for all

Wildwood days, listen to the rooster crow
Trying to wake a sleeping world, tell 'em something they don't know
That deep within each human heart, deep down at the core
There shines a light of mercy that can guide our way once more
